🌐 The Harsh & Drastic Impact of Social Media on Youth – A Wake-up Call from Nepal’s Experience

In just a decade, social media applications have gone from being “optional tools” to becoming an inseparable part of our daily lives. While they bring convenience, connectivity, and opportunities, we must pause and reflect on their unintended consequences, especially on our youth. Take Nepal as an example – a nation where once social interaction was deeply rooted in people, now faces challenges of excessive digital consumption. It’s as if small children, once taught moderation in sweets, are now exposed to unlimited access without boundaries. 📱 These apps – mostly originating from one republic – are designed to maximize engagement, often ignoring the fine balance between utility and addiction. Recent social media polls and public confessions reveal alarming trends: 👉 Sharemarket sluggishness over the past year 📉 👉 Gold prices skyrocketing 🚀 👉 Unprecedented geopolitical tensions 🌍 👉 Inflation reaching concerning levels 📈 According to popular media discourse, a single individual is often blamed for economic woes globally, yet paradoxically, that same individual and close associates seem to amass considerable wealth during these turbulent times. 🤝 Regardless of political stance, it is important to recognize that social media is not inherently bad. Like any tool, it depends on how we use it. However, awareness is key. Let us encourage mindful consumption, critical thinking, and a culture of moderation – especially among the younger generation. ⏳ Approx. 3 more years of critical global shifts lie ahead. It is our collective responsibility – as professionals, educators, and parents – to help navigate this path wisely. #DigitalAwareness #SocialMediaImpact #YouthResponsibility #Nepal #EconomicTrends #MindfulUse #LinkedInInsights

Grapevine Update - 21 versions later

Hey Grapeviners, Wanted to share a few updates to Grapevine from the last few days: What’s ready: 1. Grapevine web now has the following new features: a. Search functionality b. Notification screen c. Private profile page (your likes, bookmarks and posts in one place) 2. You can now add long descriptions when creating polls, images and links allowing for deeper posting with lots of context. Some people have already started making good use of this 💪 3. Improvements to feed. Hopefully you see a more useful home feed on Grapevine. We are constantly trying to make this better. And are far from an ideal state 4. Private Feeds: Launched private feeds for multiple companies (Google, Amazon, BYJUs, etc). If your company is launched, you’ll see an option on Home Screen 5. Verification Blue Tick: There’s now hundreds of verified professionals on Grapevine 6. Several minor bug fixes and improvements What’s almost ready: 1. Salaries: Coming very soon, Salary/Offer type posts and comments natively in Grapevine. This will allow structured salary discussions and make Grapevine more helpful when browsing for salary info 2. More Private Feeds: We will launch verification and private feeds for many more companies in a staggered approach. Feel free to chime in if you want these features for your company to be opened up 3. Weekend AMAs: You folks keep doing some awesome AMAs yourselves. But we want to add to this by getting some cool folks from the industry to do weekend AMAs. Look forward to more on this soon :) Lastly, any and all feedback on Grapevine is always welcome - I'm just a comment away! [Posted from Grapevine Web 😊]
