Startup pressure
When I joined this startup The CEO was very positive and supportive towards work but now all of a sudden he's become like hell hectic giving lot of pressure and he thinks he can compete with the big giants of IT world even without investment and adding funds He's an foreign return. Today I had a very bad argument with him stating all the pressure I had but he just said that sort of pressure means the company is really going somewhere. Now I'm In a state where I can't move also Nor I wanna stay listening to this idiot inspite of doing my best. So give me suggestions what should I do to overcome this.
India's education system is failing techies; my opinion
First off, the curriculum is outdated. We're still being taught programming languages and technologies that are no longer relevant in the industry. When I was in college, we spent so much time on C and C++ but barely touched on Python or JavaScript, which are in high demand right now. The industry moves fast, but our education system doesn't keep up. Another big issue is the lack of practical experience. Most of our education is theory-based. We memorize algorithms and data structures but don't get enough hands-on experience to understand how to apply them in real-world scenarios. I remember cramming for exams and then forgetting everything a week later because I never actually used that knowledge in a practical setting. The focus on rote learning is another problem. We're trained to score high marks in exams rather than to understand and innovate. This creates a mindset where students are more concerned about grades than actually learning something useful. I can't tell you how many times I've seen people with excellent academic records struggle to solve basic problems at work because they never learned to think critically. Also, there's a huge gap between academia and industry. Professors often have little to no industry experience, so they can't provide insights into what skills are actually needed in the job market. When I started my first job, I felt like I was starting from scratch because so much of what I learned in college was irrelevant. Lastly, there's the issue of soft skills. Our education system doesn't emphasize communication, teamwork, or problem-solving skills, which are crucial in the tech industry. I had to learn these on the job, and it was a steep learning curve. So, in my opinion, yes, India's education system is failing tech professionals. We need a complete overhaul to make it more relevant, practical, and aligned with industry needs. Until that happens, we'll continue to see a gap between what students learn and what they need to succeed in their careers.
Cognizant revoked my offer without any notice
After being laid off from my first job, I tried to get a job everywhere and somehow landed an offer from Cognizant for ‘Engineer Trainee’ role in Bangalore on March 4th. I accepted the offer letter right away and provided all my details, but my Onboarding application wasn't being accepted because of a mismatch in my college name with my grade card. I tried to enter the full name of my College and the portal kept on rejecting it, forcing me to select from the list they gave. I reached out to the Support team on March 10, and they asked me to wait for 2-3 days. In the meantime, my date of joining was shared with me i.e. on March 18, so I moved to Bangalore 4 days ago. The day I moved to Bangalore, I rushed to the Cognizant Office with all my documents to have them verified in person and also notify them that I was ready to join. But the HR was working from home and I have no contact other than their email support. I kept on checking every day but my college name wasn't added to the list. I reached out to them on March 15 and March 17 and even on the date of my joining, March 18, the issue wasn't resolved. Hence, my application wasn't accepted by them. But then I received an email stating that my DOJ will be updated after they fix the issue in 2 days. I was relieved and hoped that it'd probably be fixed. Today's March 20, and the first thing I checked was whether my college name was added to the list or not. But as soon as I logged into the portal, my entire world was shattered as my offer was revoked. I checked my mailbox, and there was nothing about offer revocation. I accepted the offer on March 4th; I provided all the details, and I even asked them to help me out with the college name issue, but in the end, I am back to being jobless. Being an older son in my family, I feel like shit right now. I somehow snagged an offer to help support my family, and yet it was revoked. Cognizant's support team, too, isn't responding. What should I do? Please help.
