Layoffs - A complete mess made by the companies

From the last few days there were talks going on about layoffs in Morgan Stanley. Some 7% of the global staff will be handed over the pink slip in this week. Well... It started happening from today ... Few colleagues from my department were laid, and the reason being "company is trying to survive in the market, company is planning the road ahead by taking such bold steps". When this was announced, my anxiety shot up the next level and I couldn't wait for the meeting to finish. The past few years have not been great for the business worldwide due to which many companies are forced to take such steps. These companies just have been doing a hiring spree from the last 1-2 years that now they are regretting their decisions and letting off their employees. My question is - "If a company hires excessively during the bull market and is forced to lay off few of the employees during the downturn, has the company made an error by not evaluating the headcount or it was just simply the need of the hour" Please note - I know many people out there who have faced job cuts due to many factors, sincerely requesting people to take this matter very seriously

The Only Possible Downside to GrapeVine

While grapevine has its own benefits (that I am frankly addicted to and love using), I do feel that the fact that our Identity is hidden makes it easier for people to bully or harass or just simply use people as a punching bag for stress relief. For instance, The other say I saw a post by a person where they were seeking advice to improve the ability to communicate better with their toddler. While everyone was being helpful in the chat, the post owner would simply just go on to abuse or berate the people for no reason. It just shows that not everyone deserves to be a parent. I saw another case wherein a person was particularly pretending to be a woman and asking people to have slutty chats for 50rs in the DM. I know, "Report" is a viable thing, but I cant just help but to marvel the civic sense and ubringing. Most people just dont know how to respect others. And yet, they keep wondering why they have a miserable life with 0 social skills.

Facing hostility for nth time

So me and my friend were chilling on our terrace. No sound nothing. We are not even talking. We were just simply sitting and enjoy the air and night skies. All sudden this guy from pent house comes out and calls out in Kannada to move out from there. We said no what’s ur problem.( we said this in Hindi) and this triggered him. He came walking up to the tank part where we were sitting and started shouting ke we should go down and go to our room. We said no we won’t go down. He asked if we speak Kannada and we said no we don’t. Then he started recording video of us and we did the same. Then he started throwing slurs in Kannada and one of my friend know very lil Kannada and he started to throw back the same slurs and yk what he said “if you told me you guys speak Kannada I woudnt even tried coming up. This got me mad. I then went full on Hindi saying ke we didn’t do any thing here do whatever you want. He tried accusing us of smoking weed and tried to find any evidence. Ofc he didn’t find anything except some old cig buds that were already there. This went on for 20mins and at last he collected all those buds and went down to his room. We chilled there for more 10mins and got to our rooms. PS: me and my friends are Telugu and can speak Hindi and he was intoxicated af We were waiting for him to raise a hand to fuck him up. Since we were 2 all he did was throw some Kannada slurs This is not my first time facing hostility due to Hindi. At this point I just hate this city cuz of these illiterate fucks.
