Would you consider someone for a job if their grapes were high enough?

Is street cred/follower count enough to get one's foot in the door while hiring or getting hired off of a social media platform like gv or LinkedIn?

Or is it more subjective than numbers and metrics?

Let the OP also consider that 🤭🤭

It's inversely proportional. I would avoid them as much as possible. If grapes are high then that means he/she is a people pleasing person. Now that has a very negative correlation with 'the right thing' to do.

Right thing vs people pleasing things are different

By that logic Modiji is people pleaser and doesn't do the right things 😆

I would hire Modi for my PR team, not engineering or tech

They didn't have a pmf

One person from HSBC is grape farming by spamming memes. Will his high grape count consideration be of any help? So yeah online rep is useless.

If they were applying for community or content roles, why not

Oh yeah, I am wrong here. For community or content roles, grapes are surely helpful metric to consider

You can start an argument. You can say something meaningful. You get grapes in both cases. Good behaviour/skill cannot be identified on the basis of grapes alone.

There may be some correlation. We'll only find out when GV releases a grape based recruitment product.

Followers? Different story -- a follow is a token of respect. Get into a good company, post educational content. That's what will get you followers on LinkedIn.

You'll get engagement if you post something controversial. Will you get followers? Not as likely.

More importantly, followers increase your reach. If you are smart, all that is left to solve for is visibility.

I would argue engagement also leads to followers because posting anything controversial will also attract a certain kind of follower.

Depends on who the person wants to reach at the end of the day.

Makes sense. But I personally connect with people who could unlock opportunities for me on LinkedIn. Product & tech leaders, founders, etc.

Then there's the bhaiya, didi educational cringe that gets crazy reach/followership.

Have a hunch that most people (not all) follow on LinkedIn based on those triggers.

Personal bias but point still stands followers > grapes for recruitment.

It depends.

If the person has earned that count by not providing value and/or showing their skillsets; then it doesn't matter, otherwise it does matter.
