Why extreme saving and FIRE is overrated...
Take this moment to think about all those finance bros telling us to invest 80% of our income. I come from a tier 2 college. Come from a very lower middle class family, thanks to my parents who ensured I got everything for my education without worrying about anything Topped my 10th board and then fumbled in my early 20s trying to save every single rupee. Joined a tech company. Did my job got good hikes somehow and then found out my health was deteriorating and realised how much importance living in the present has. People scolded me for buying a nice car but helped me with my mindset learned that life is just too short. Started at a salary of 5 lpa then in just 6 years of my journey I have reached a base salary of 80lpa. Although I lived like a broke student for the first 3.5 years but whatever I missed out on has shaped me to what I am today. I truly believe and hard work in initial part of my career was to escape poverty and I believe without spending one cannot achieve top 1% life experiences... My mantra is to give my 100% at work to earn well then enjoy everything. Today I am able to provide everything to my family. Taking a break this Wednesday just to remind you guys that I have enough time, money and health to support myself and my family right now instead of waiting for retirement.
Just a reality check post. Money is meant to be spent.
My next family trip will be in June btw...

Some of us aren't lucky to be in the role, company, industry, domain, that we like. We can dream of saving and investing to get out of the rat race.
I would say the key is balance. When young, save/invest. Once you start hitting money milestones : 25L, 50L, 1cr.. then you'll feel financially comfortable to take riskier moves into domains you like. After that point FIRE will not be on your mind

100% agree on the balance part. I just pushed myself way too hard early on and completely ignored my health. Hitting those milestones definitely gives you a safety net to breathe though.

80l base at 6yoe. Bhai Amazon, google bhi sharma jae..
Thoda bacha le bhai, bura samay bata kr nahi aata. Save krna mtlb kanjoos banna hi nhi hota.

Please tell your career CTC trajectory & key skillset.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years ahhh question

80 LPA base ?? Bhai itni salary hoti bhi hai ? 🫡

Yeah, until you get laid off that is. Get off your high horse buddy.

It is all good until you don't have your liabilities covered and then the savings kick in hard

What's good to know is operations manager also getting enviable salary. Congratulations

Lol it's total bs. 80 lpa is nowhere near base for any manager at razorpay.

Don't go to extremes, saving everything is bad and saving nothing is also bad. When bad times come, you may have to pay 1L per day to hospital to keep your loved ones alive. I've personally experienced this, my mom is with me today because I saved atleast 20-30% since I got a job.

Humko bhi leke ja , paise udha hi Raha h toh
