This is actually true but no recruiter wants to take a risk on a bad hire.
Not true. As a dropout myself, I got multiple offers from multiple places. And I know about half a dozen of dropouts too working in tech.

only half a dozen u know, crores of graduates out there. Few hour ago my brother wasn't selected for a company bcz he was from other branch. With the increasing population and worsening conditions of job prospects degree will be basic necessity and people with pedigree will be even valued more. India is a gareenb country, no one gives flying duck about youth employment. People who says there is a skill gap, blah blah, are yet to be on ground....

Seems good, theoretically speaking. But practically speaking, college degree will remain a criteria for all jobs.

Will he himself hire a person without IIT IIM Tag ? He won't .

How many of Zerodha employees are grads again?

what about companies mentioning Btech from premier institute/tier 1 college?

Good example of becoming rich before you preach. His answer is obviously biased by his own example.
In this complex world , nothing is so black and white

Things are changing for sure. But I wouldn't say that this is no longer relevant. Formal education is and will remain one of the most sought ways for applying for a job.
The % of jobs where they do not consider your education is still very very low.
This isn't going to change until companies start to ignore education criteria, the probability of which is very less.

'No longer relevant' is a click bait. It definitely has lost lots of steam on being a key decider of employability long ago. Just that now, there are other businesses vying to capture the skill gap market and this is all part of that messaging.
If someone still thinks just having a degree gets them into a decent competitive employment with good future prospects, they need to wake up.

Somewhat agree. Learning wise colleges have less and less to offer unless you want to be in “academia” . Jobs provide much better learning . Colleges are losing relevance
