What worked for you when therapy didn’t seem to?

I’m seeking therapy for quite some time now, but it ain’t helping me much (read: at all). I understand that it may sometimes takes many attempts to find the right therapist. Parallels, I want to do everything I could do for my mental health. Any suggestions what could work? Any mental health course recommendations, if that worked out for you?

Get a full blood test done, get supplements like iron magnesium and zinc if you're deficient. There are a lot of vit and minerals that affect your mental health and can help boost mood etc. And daily mental health walks even if they're 10 min go a long way. I would also encourage you to try workbooks for specific styles of therapy eg ACT, CBT, DBT etc. Those exercises can be helpful as well

Art of living course helped me a lot. Especially the Sudarshan Kriya is very effective to calm the mind down. Besides nature walk and music helps in case therapy doesn’t work.

Check your gut, a large part of your mental health depends on your gut. Do you have any digestive issues? Do you take probiotics? How's your lifestyle and stress? I'd recommend checking out functional medicine on YouTube. If you are able to treat the underlying digestive issue and take probiotics regularly, you'll have the best mental health you've had in years.

Check your Vit D and Vit B12 levels also. It has a huge impact on your mental health. Most of us in India are Vit D deficient.

A good daily routine aligned with circadian rhythm can make a difference. A friend of mine who was dealing with mental health issues said this helped him to an extent. Routine is important.
