It was so badly executed that a cab didn't come for the folks who were going to be fired (and they couldn't schedule it; since they didn't want the folks who were to get fired in office š)

A US retailer i know had bouncers / cops at their workplace before sending the layoff email.
Absolutely pure evil when it comes to firing employees
I would actually prefer to get laid off the way. Why waste time coming into the office, Iād rather get laid off while Iām home

There are very sick practices followed by IT companies in India. Right from Recruitment to Notice Period to Layoffs. In all seriousness, I want our Government to have some governance around these practices. I am thinking to write an email to Indian IT ministry. I think you all should write a mail to IT ministry. Though I am not sure if any action would be taken from Govt but I think we can all try once.
Walmart is still a customer of HCL..they fire there employees and move there work to service companies like TCS,HCL, etc
