The companies and founders that boast about how good the work life balance of their org is or how amazing people are doing because of the WFA policies are actually doing nothing, and are pretty useless companies.

Many more companies and founders with work from office and zero wlb are also useless companies. Correlation is not causation. There are also plenty of great remote-first companies as well as work from office ones

I completely agree, I'm just saying the ones who go over and above to show their work culture and nothing else are mid.

In some sense maybe, its also about the folks you attract when you advertise wlb etc vs meaningful work
