Tips to quit smoking

Looking for tips to quit smoking. I've tried a lot, I tend to stop smoking for a few days but then again I end up starting it :(

If anyone has successfully quit smoking, I'd like to know their process

Use nicotine gum once you've managed to stop smoking for a few days. Read Allen Carr's "Easy Way To Stop Smoking" after you've made some light progress in resisting smoking. It will 100% definitely seal the deal and stop your habit.

I smoked for 8 years before I was able to quit. I partied one night and kept 2 ciggs with me but promised myself that I wouldn’t smoke. But just in case I craved too much I had kept a couple if them with me.

I did not smoke that night, I promised myself the next day I will delay as much as possible and always kept those 2 ciggs with me hidden in my almirah. When I craved, I ate something I really liked or drank water. Eating really helps.

After a month, I threw the 2 ciggs as well but its been 3 yrs and I have never smoked nor do I crave.

I gained a bit during the first couple of months because I pampered myself by eating whatever I wanted whenever I craved for a smoke.

Individual journeys are different, hope you succeed. Also, fear of death is a major motivator. Find a way to read on how smoking kills us.

Eat something sweet like sugary sweet everytime you have the urge. Next day run as fast as possible. Not HIIT, just sprint as long as possible then take a 1 or max 2 min break and then run again. Start with 15 or 30 mins. And gradually extend every 6 days. You will quit smoking in 1 month.

Quit the thought of quitting cigarettes.

Mindfulness. Interestingly the thing that helped me quit is focusing more on it. Just light a cigarette and focus on the feeling of it. How does it make you feel, take that drag if you want to and just focus on the smoke physically going inside. The smell of the cigarette. As weird as it sounds, most of us don’t really like that feeling. Post doing this once or twice, I just couldn’t light a cigarette anymore. I couldn’t even stand the smell of it. I still craved holding something between my fingers so I started holding things like I was holding a cigarette (pens, chopped carrot, lollipops even haha)

The most effective way I have tried till date. Helped a friend of mine quit in a similar way.

Reduce first and then quit slowly. Don't be over ambitious in such goals.
