[Thread] If all jobs paid the same and qualifications were no issue, what career would you choose instead of your current role?
Always had a fascination for flying objects as a kid.
If this held true, I would really love to work in the aerospace domain. Building insane drones or UAVs would be awesome, especially after a decent stint in software.
Was reading about this company called Zipline which works in autonomous aerial delivery. Quite insane how they supply medical supplies in Rwanda using gliding drones that are launched across the country.
Stories like these inspire an entire generation to take up engineering and change the world.
What about you all?

Probably something in the animation industry

@tzr and what inspired you to choose this? Because, it is a very interesting answer according to me.

@salt Grew up watching anime. Later in school, I joined some discord groups, which subbed anime eps & scanlated manga "illegally." We became too big through the years that Kodansha sent us a DMCA, hence the group disbanded.
Surprisingly, all of us got job offers from Viz & other smaller pubs to join them since our skills were too "good" to let go. Even promised some work directly related to some studios.
This was during college placements, and me, being the only Indian in our group, chose IT because I wanted stability...

Something related to Physics and Maths. They just seem to make sense to me.
I would love to work on these, away from the noise of the city and in the lap of nature.

@MajorDust55 The love and fascination for Physics and Math is supreme. It’s akin to being enlightened. ✨

Travel show host;
See it all: remote places, sparsely populated places, scenic places, inhabitable places, concrete jungles and the “the-city to live in”

I remember a show like this on TLC.
@SamePence56 I think you’d be a perfect fit for it.
What made you choose this tbh?

Honestly I think it’s the fact that freedom and choice to living a certain way came very late to an only daughter like me, from a relatively conservative Hindu fam.
Sure, my parents are plenty supportive but it’s so when it falls within the framework of what is correct and safe according to them
I grew up pretty extrovert and then life happened! So the craving to “freedom” seems like a strong one.
Travelling, journaling and seeking answers to life on the go, seems like a
Great deal to explore both in and out :)

Podcaster something like a Joe Rogan Podcast where I just chill and talk shit for hours over some joints and alcohol

@JakerPiannomer Who’s stopping you, fella? Get on a plane and off you go to the United States. 😂😂😂

Well of not US I'll do it in my own house, currently started working need some secure capital for savings or need to get married to a very rich lady so I can risk it all on just podcasting xD. But I'll definitely do some meaningful podcasts and not on some random conspiracy theories for sure

game dev

@ObeseBulk81 Ayyo GameDev is the best.
Probably all our childhood dreams. Mine was to create a “Revolt of 1857” game in 4th grade, in which the ending would be an alternative history where we win.
I know childish dreams 😂 but I could seriously imagine a GTA San Andreas like world where we would have missions and all to complete.
Too naïve 😂😂

The second game you mentioned turned this comment naive in 0.001 sec. Come on AAA title like GTA? 😂

If ethical boundaries are also not an issue, I would go into CRISPR tech research and create biological organs/accessory products and insurance. Maybe connect it with Agri-tech 0-1 research on how you can reduce organ damage/degradation based on the reducing quality of food.
That is what I want to do, but currently we are manufacturing products based on convenience. PM market is fucked up for guys like me.

@SuperDumbPM
Just imagine if everyone did what they really were interested in rather than chasing the hottest thing that made them the most amount of money.
Good food for thought:
Maybe we would see a lot more people fail but instead we would also get so many crazy and insane innovations in every field.

Correct. I want to balance the output and input that we put into any research.
