Negatives-
- Low pay, low growth.
- Transfers.
- Low knowledge gain.
- Bad bosses can make life terrible as government jobs are as hard to get out of as they are to get in.
Positives
-
While the pay is Low, smart employees can easily save their entire gross pay without engaging in dishonesty if they are well aware of how the system works. It is common in my department to find people who save 11-12 lakh on a salary of 11-12 lakh, without doing one dishonest/illegal thing. By the next pay commission these blokes will be saving 17-20 lpa.

Work life balance is too good. Like, I for instance can wrap up all my duties for a week in one day of grinding. But I work like 2 hr at a steady pace everyday to keep abreast with my workload. The busy ones have to work for 4 hours at max. 104 weekends, 20 El, 8 CL, 30 Hpl, 30 holidays= 152(no monetary loss) - 194(mild losss) holidays per year. Except in a few departments like CBI, ED, law enforcement etc. the hours are regular throughout the year
-
While this is against the rules, the more ambitious of the lot use their free time to moonlight/run business. (Both illegal under CCS rules, but people who work the law know how to bend it.)

You get an opportunity to meet men who move the wheels of the society. Your conduct and caliber determines whether you get to shoulder the wheel or the wheel moves over you.

We don't do that here😮💨😤

Siuu !

Hahaha Habibi welcome to corporate 😂

Thing I like about my current workplace is no calls on phone! Even no messages (unless there’s an emergency) after work hours! We’re also encouraged to set slack notifs to “mentions only”

Dream. This company sounds like?

That’s honestly pretty good culture

I mean the pay is shit, but I got transferred to my home state, with the office just a 10min drive from my home. Also, good team and manager who doesn't get on your nerves, and doesn't ask too many questions for taking leaves.

Well looks like you’ve hit the corporate jackpot.
10 min commute that too in your home state. Great manager and team so things be looking peaceful right ?

Amazon is honestly a pretty good place to work if you take away the layoffs. The PIP culture and over hiring.
Great products. Good growth. Top pay

Does it vary for non tech roles or is it the same culture throughout? I’ve had someone in my previous organisation who came from Amazon (non tech role) and he was complaining how it was horrible.

I keep hearing WLB is very bad. Is that true or just a rumour?
