"If you’re the smartest person in the room, you’re in the wrong room."
This quote always force me to think about my situation.
I joined a startup as a Software Developer in January 2024. At the time of joining, there were only three people in the team excluding me: one developer, one networking operator, and one product manager. My initial salary during the probation period was ₹12,000 per month. After three months, it was increased to ₹15,000. During this time, the other developer left the company, leaving me as the sole developer.
In January 2025, my salary was increased to ₹19,000—but only after I raised concerns and mentioned that I had received better offers from other companies 💼. Despite this raise, I still don’t receive any formal benefits such as PF, ESI, or salary slips ❌📄.
Currently, I’m expected to manage full-stack development responsibilities and more. My tech stack includes .NET, MS SQL Server, Crystal Reports, and Node.js with Express for mobile app APIs—all of which I’ve built and maintained on my own 🧑💻.
Recently, my product manager asked me to train our networking colleagues in all of these technologies. Unfortunately, this colleague frequently distracts me by hovering around my screen, making it hard to concentrate and grow 📉.
Given the workload, lack of proper compensation and benefits, and the challenging environment, I’m uncertain about how to proceed 🤔. I would truly appreciate your guidance on how to handle this situation professionally and make the right move for my career 📈.
Thank you for your time and support.
