Resignation and project release

I've resigned from TCS 2 weeks ago and I joined my current project a month ago. I got my VDI access yesterday, 75 days of my notice period are remaining. Now they're asking me to take KT from team members and start working on the tasks. But it's totally useless, because I'll be joining a new company where the role is completely different and I'll have to learn everything from scratch about my current project to start working on it. Why won't they just release me instead of wasting time on me in giving KT? Should I confront my manager and ask for release directly? Or should I just keep following her orders? Coz if they release me, they would save their time in giving me KT and if I go on bench I can search for new opportunities easily. Win win situation for both of us TBH!

Confront your manager directly. Explain the situation and request a release. If they refuse, follow orders. It's a waste of time, but TCS policies are rigid. Be prepared for resistance.

If you are billable manager is not going release you, but you can give a try by talking with him and informing you have no thought of staying back

They will not release you not matter what, tcs has become very strict regarding it.

I’ll suggest you to have lazy approach towards your tasks, and side by side keep learning what’s required in your new company.

Pass your time, no need to go to office also 5 days. They can’t do anything

Ya I'm doing the same thing. I'm not co-operating with them at all. I go to office daily, but I don't login to VDI. Recently I've received a mail from my manager for my behaviour wherein HR is also added in the chain. Let's see what happens next!

We don't have buyout option in tcs ? Where we can pay money for 3 months and leave immediately?

No, HR doesn't agree for the buyout even if you have 0 dependency

I'm in a sort of similar situation, isn't buying out the notice period an option 😕??

Same situation with me, 70 days of my NP left, and joind project 1 month back and still project is not started. It will start next month and my manager forcing me to get KT from them, i arranged replacements also but still my manager is not ready to release me early.

Just discuss this with your manager or HR you can be released earlier from the company

While being on notice period, project release will not be done in TCS. I have checked with my TL for my personal purpose they told me this . Also while on Bench you will not serve 90 days notice period.

If you drop paper while being on a project this is the norms in TCS

Ideally, these questions should have crossed your manager's and new team's colleagues.🥲
