Tell your manager this - Science and religion are two different aspects of life. And a person can have faith in both.
Science at high level is a way of understanding the outside world through experiments and observations. Sometimes we make mistakes in science when we do not have enough observations or wrong observations. For example, for a long time humanity thought atom particles like proton, neutron and electrons were the most fundamental particles that made up the universe. We were wrong.
Religion on the other hand mostly focuses on understanding the inner self. How do achieve peace of mind? How should communities behave? Is there one fundamental force that unifies everything?
Sure, there are a lot of problems due to religion since people take them to extreme and start discrimination. But that's a humanity problem. Not a religion one. The most widespread destruction to humanity (holocaust) and to the planet (global warming) have been aided by science, not religion. Science also contributes.
I am an engineer so I rely on science for work. But the goodness and kindness in me is pushed by the faith that there is one fundamental force residing in all. Perhaps one day science will be able to discover that force and we will have a unified set of principles which guides the humanity forward.
