No job - Salary negotiation tips.

Hello folks, how can one negotiate salary who is not on any job and ready for immediate joining? Does the gap decreases chances of getting expected renumeration? How to deal with HR's taking undue advantage?

First get a job offer than use it as leverage to ask for more from 2nd one

It's tricky. You may need to make shit up like ur sick or need 2 weeks time to join. If it's in a different city you can easily ask for a few weeks for relocation.

Just believe in yourself and your abilities rather than worrying about what a recruiter or a hiring manager would say. Trust me companies who take advantage of saving money on such hiring aren't the companies you want to go for!

I had to give a 2 minute extempore of sorts as to why I pegged my expected salary higher than my last drawn one, just last week. Got ghosted with the first round of interview yet to be scheduled.

Not having a job does decrease chances of getting a hike on next job especially in this market situation. I had to join for the same salary after getting laid off.

However, good companies don’t take undue advantage. If they are, feel free to join them until you get the next offer. Treat companies like how they treat you
