🧠 Need Advice: Product vs Service Company – Java Backend Career

Hi folks,

I’m a Java Backend Developer (3.7+ yrs) working primarily with Spring Boot, Microservices, Kafka, and Cloud. I currently have two offers and would really appreciate insights from people who’ve worked in similar setups.

Option 1 – Product-based SaaS company (Zycus) • Role: Senior Java Developer • Tech: Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Cloud, Kafka, AI tooling exposure • Work model: Hybrid (2 days WFO) • Focus: Product ownership, long-term growth, AI/ML exposure

Option 2 – Service-based MNC (Mphasis) • Role: Software Engineer • Tech: C / C++ + SQL (client-driven) • Work model: 5 days WFO • Focus: Client project stability

My priorities (in order): 1. Long-term career growth & skill relevance 2. Modern tech stack (Java/Spring/Cloud/AI) 3. Work-life balance

If you’ve worked in product vs service companies, or have experience with Java backend growth paths, I’d love to hear: • Which option is better for long-term career & pay growth? • Any hidden risks I should consider?
