Manager wont expense full bill for team event

We had a quarterly team event at a high end restaurant. I wasnt aware that there was a per head cap, so my expense got approved only upto a certain limit.

The surplus is several thousand rupees. What should I do now?

How was this not foreseeable? You do know that budgets exist right... Ofcourse sky is not the limit anywhere. Learn the lesson

Never do that let manager expense bills , learn that lesson and move on

It's good to be transparent. In your common slack channel or group mention this and divide the amount per person and ask them to pay it to you. This is a genuine issue and i think folks will understand.

If the event was someone else's brain child (hopefully manager's). Then let everyone who attended know that as a team you exceeded the budget and evryone will need to pitch in. (Probably on team slack channel or WhatsApp group).

If it was your brain child or you were in-charge of organizing then this might be difficult. Since, you were supposed to keep things in check and under budget.
