Lost everything in fno trading

Hi everyone,

My brother is 26M, he is working in one among big4 companies and earning one lakh per month. Who never spent money for drinking or any luxurious things. But he started trading and lost 2 lakhs initially. To recover it again he lost 3 lakhs and now he traded all his savings and lost overall 20 lakhs.

I tried convincing him that it is impossible to recover the lost amount,I will give that 2lakhs and requested a lot not to trade anymore.

Some times he got profit and overwhelmed a lot. even then I advised him to stop it and such easy money profits are like a trap. Now after losing all his savings, he is saying that his life is useless. Iam worried and not sure what to do. I can understand it is a huge amount but more than money he is important for me and he need to be strong and should not disturb his career and mental health.

I know it takes time to heal the pain but still I am worried about him as he is my closest person in this world and without his happiness, my family will not be happy.

I kindly request all of you to Please provide your suggestions on how to improve his situation.

Self-control was the only thing that helped me survive a similar situation. Back when I was earning just ₹25,000 a month, I ended up losing ₹4 lakhs in F&O trading. F&O trading is like an addiction stronger than alcohol. I remember losing my wedding ring and gold chain, and I even had to take a personal loan at 16% interest.

That was in 2018. I’ve moved on since then, but today, I consider that phase as my "financial tuition fee." It taught me a powerful life lesson: earning money is not easy, and if it seems easy, there’s probably something wrong.

My advice to you: stay close to your brother and give him confidence. With patience and discipline, you can recover that money over time. Consider starting with mutual fund investments it’s a safer, long-term route to wealth.

OMG... I only listen about this in the news ... Now I am hearing it in real 😅..... it is more than gambling then .... I recently created an account on angel One app to trade .. but I never did trading since then ... and I will never do this after hearing a lot of stories here.... It is hard earned money... . I will invest somewhere but will never do trading etc..

Yeah please don't even think about fno. Sip in mutual funds is the good investment for long term.

FnO trading is two edge sword . If you make profit or loss both are dangerous unless you have self control and great psychology..
