
Rapido layoffs
Apparently there was a decision to layoff 20% of workforce which was revoked at last minute by leadership. Good sign or not? Could signal lack of forethought among those at top. What do you guys think?
Any insights on why did they do it? What are they going to do with the staff currently working on it?
As per Amazon employees they were asked to resign voluntarily and also Jan 2023 will be second round of layoffs .
The US HQ reason says that they r cutting down on all burns so that stocks appreciate. All employees are concerned of stock price.
Also, i feel that stock has become a money printing tool for company.
I have been using Amazon Food for a year now, they were available in selected pincodes and probably the thesis was the maximise utilisation of their delivery fleet and optimize incomes of the partners as well in some way.
Lot of deep discounting, pretty sure they were losing money on most of the orders. Maybe the unit economics didn't make sense so they've wrapped it. It was a pilot.

Who are the teams being laid off in Amazon in India? Is it the operations staff, admin or the SDEs 1 or 2 or senior coders?
First, they had a layoff. Some people in the leadership quit. Middle management people are quitting. They shut down majority of the dark stores. They are pivoting their business. They are out of runway.
