In my experience people who shop with multiple offer letters generally don't give their best for the job and hence don't go far, mostly stay unhappy

Everybody is at fault. If hiring people discuss CTC before starting interview, this can be avoided, but they also want to save $ by trying to underpay. So gotta maximize those $$$

I disagree with her on points 1 and 2. But agreed on 3, one shouldn't be there to ask anything that comes to mind. It should be closer to what market rate is(exceptions do apply)
Also I do agree on working not merely for the money part. Seems fair for a startup
