Early on, maybe. Once u have network or u can make more connections through events/meetups then no. But I am sure media and wfo lovers will make u believe it is detrimental as a fact

For tech folks, why so much emphasis on networking, I cannot understand.
Why to waste time in travelling and do networking. There is lot of upside by investing that time into learning new stuff to try out and upgrade the code and software architecture. All these things can be learned form internet. I think it mostly depends on person who is utilising the time.
Anyways no networking comes for clearing an interview of tech role and if your profile is great, people will approach.

The problem is many companies now are not giving the WFH option but now many companies are either Hybrid or fully WFO. My collegeues also said to me that there will be no growth for you if you stick to some permanent WFH company just for the sake of staying in your hometown.

Honestly, I feel if you work in a decent enough company which give you good hikes, I will probably stick to permanent WFH. Else, it is possible that I might end up losing more by staying in my hometown.

One of the main reasons of WFO seems better is that it actually increases productivity, more insights and better networking/communication.

WFH is more about comfort and can only be achieved if the Home is work friendly. For many people home is not the right place to work there could be less personal space, privacy, alot of noise, ambient active lighting, internet speed, setup. Alot of people at managerial level would want to physically see people working under them just to validate them.

Ofc all depends on your role if you team mostly works from home then it's better to work from home, if your home is not work friendly then office is best.

Productivity does come by being in the office, many companies see productivity as how much time you work instead of how good of work you do. Less distractions, breaks and time waste can be achieved only in office.
