2 important things to note -

  1. The amount of money you make depends on the amount of leverage you create/Impact you create
  2. And your ability to sell yourself as the person who can do those things

It really doesn't matter if you start at low salary or keep on hopping

So true ! If you don’t see growth potential then leave. Initial 5-7 yrs are very important to increase your pay scale. After that it will become a little difficult.
