Is aggregate deductible worth it?

For health insurance, I can get a decent discount on the premium if I opt for aggregate deductible. And there is a lock in of 5 years. Have you ever been in a situation where this caused trouble for you?

Health insurance is a strategy. No clear binary answer. You can keep deductible if no family history of diseases or money is not a concern or in case of group insurance already available or have visibility into job. You can even keep it in a FD or MF. When some people have concern with premium like in case of elders i recommend them deductible. I'm an IRDAI advisor and NISM certified MF distributor.

Do not try and skimp over premium for health or term insurance. Get least deductibles and least copay

In a way, deductible is somewhat similar to copay. But that upfront discount prompted me to think. I will not opt for it. Thought of checking within the community too

It should be fine to take a deductible of an amount that you will be ok paying. Usually it is a one time per annum. If you have a 10 lakhs cover with 25,000 deductible then every year the first 25,000 you pay and insurance pays only after that. Deductible is NOT Co-pay. And premium falls significantly once you take a deductible.
