How bad is lay-off situation at TCS and IT companies Wipro, Capgemini, Infosys, Cognizant and others. Should someone switch now?

Any group of people roughly fall in a bell curve on any aspect. Same is with IT skills.

If you’re on the extreme right on the bell curve (top tier), you will never have trouble finding jobs or switching.

If you’re above average, you will have to put some effort into finding a job in switching every time.

If you’re average or below average, you’ll always have problem in finding a job, and switching.

So overall layoff or market situation is mostly irrelevant. It mostly depends on where your skills are in respect to the other candidates on the job market.

If you study & work hard to get top tier level in a wide range of skills, you will never have to ask this question again, whether to switch or not. That problem only exists for people with average or below-average skills
