Honestly it Sucks!!! Having a single digit CTC…

Let me ask you all a question and expect a honest opinion or may be mantra to do it.

Is it only me or everybody reads grapevine posts often times where people stretches about having a CTC of more than 40L, 50L… and don’t even get me started where people are discussing about stock options while having nearly a crore of CTC. Meanwhile someone like me is struggling to come to even to a double digit CTC number, so trust me honestly it sucks….

So what am I actually missing, is it my fate that I have to work pay check to pay check or doing something else like changing the actions a bit can get a hefty CTC???

Also welcoming people like me to pour their heads here. And please give me some good peace of your mind to get somewhere good like those guys who stretches. Could be very useful for others like me…

  1. improve communication skills (mainly the negotiation part)
  2. Aggressively prepare DSA - you must be super strong in topics and algos used in your domain particularly
  3. master multiple jobs DevOps, Frontend, Backend
  4. Get experience of leading a team
  5. Make open source applications completely on your own with basic features of expensive applications
  6. Check the base pay in company before you apply
  7. Never go with the 30-40% increase in salary on switch, be confident and ask. If they invoke the point that previous salary was this much just politely say that salary was based on the skill set I had before I joined there, not on my current skillset which I have worked hard on.

if u want good increment in your current org then you need to become a critical resource in ur project and then negotiate other only option is to look outside and get a reasonable offer to be able to resign and then during the last month of your notice period start looking more aggressively for hike on prev offer

I've said this multiple times here, and I'll say it again - what you see here is the voice of the minority. People who have money will obviously talk. People who don't, don't talk.

What you're doing is: you're seeing this 10% of the minority talk and assuming that's what everyone is living like - while there are 90% of people who don't post here, who are living just like you

Let me tell you a true story. About 6-7 years ago, I was at the same place you are right now. Heck I even had the same designation at the same company as you. Salary barely 6LPA, a car loan and a new marriage already added to the list. I tried giving interviews and finally got an offer of 10LPA. That was a the first big jump, but that opened the door to where I am now. I may not have 1cr+ CTC but I’m almost halfway there. And it all started with that one jump. Don’t get disheartened. Talent will always be valued in the market. Just don’t expect 4-5x on the first offer directly. Once you get moving, its it not difficult to work your way up.

Don't have as much exp as you but I would say try outside of witch companies. WITCH is infamous for their peanut packages and stagnation.

I am stuck in the same scenario. Getting even double digit CTC in WITCH companies has become very difficult. Looking for an onshore, but even that seems to be difficult.

PS: Any advice will be more than welcomed. Also, if anyone is looking for someone to fill a position in SAP S/4 HANA Finance, a ping will be more than appreciated!!

Thank you!!

Jab tak infosys mein rahoge to 40-50 kabhi nahi pohonch paoge. Bahar nikloge to magically koi 40-50 pehli baar mein koi nahi dega. Sab dheere dheere hoga lekin infosys mein reh kar nahi hoga.
