Heartless creature called Manager

Been working at a company/ firm for 3 years and was looking for a switch for months. When I finally got a good offer with almost a 50% hike on the current CTC, unfortunately the condition was they wanted someone to join ASAP and since the offer was soo good, of course I couldn't turn it down. So when I approached my manager, to reduce the notice period since we have good relations and the offer in hand cannot be missed, the manager clearly said that you will have to serve the full notice period being 30 days and if not, we won't give the relieving documents and the salary for the period you have worked and you may choose to not come from tomorrow. (And the manager did not even talk or said anything even after i left... The so called good relations)

So I was left with no other choice but to walk out.

It was a gentle reminder that in the corporate world, no one will show humanity and you will be hated if you do anything they don't like.

It's not corporate it is Indian managers who had experience in non MNC jobs. Putting these people in corporate is like putting a beggar in king's chair no matter what they will act like a beggar despite having position of a king 👑

Well said. I think this is the issue. Lot of mngrs coming from non mnc and bringing awful work experience.

People are worried about serving 30 days notice period... meaning service based 90 days. You are in much better position 🥲

+1 Same here, they usually don't even allow 89 days 🥲

You are seeing it only from your perspective. This has nothing to do with Humanity but the company Policy. We need to remember Manager is also another employee and he will also have to go through the same if he wish to leave. Wish he was the owner of the firm who could make this decision. You are saying you have good relations with him and you are expecting him to help you personally keeping the policy aside?

Your perspective might be correct but tbh it’s full of shit
I’ve seen people get released so quickly when a manager/company wants them to be disposed off
Also brownie points to the manager being an a** hole as the way he said things to the OP also matter
Could’ve been much supportive and if not then Atleast be sympathetic enough. Can be expected under basic human decency right ?!

Middle management is always toxic no matter how good your friendship or relationship is with them. Because there's always this pressure from above that you have to make your employees miserable or else your performance reviews and comp updates will be shit.

If u quit without an offer.. then they will release u immediately 😂

During resignation is it necessary to tell them if you received a new offer or not?

Also, new company always push people to join soon, but internally they know people can’t join, because that so called new firm don’t releave people early😀. Don’t worry. In your case notice is just 30 days. But in IT its 90 days. If you are the best find, new company will be ready to wait.

A lot of Indian managers are so cunning. They don't want you to grow.

I work for TechM. The notice period is 90 days and they don't want to negotiate even though my new offer was great and willing to buy out notice period

I am surprised that your corporate organisation has a 30 days notice period . Even in my organisation the notice period is 90 days . Since you still don't understand no organisation will reduce the notice period. Even the offer you got from other organisations would not reduce the notice period for the employees.

Instead checking in current organisation for reduce notice period. Won't your new organisation wait atleast for 30 days to join.
