Never. Most of my leaves are auto approved because no one minds it. I approve my team's leaves without any questions. I just ask my team to inform me in advance if possible so that I can manage the bandwidth of others.

In service companies - There are old school managers who do not like people to take leaves. They do not have a strong reason. If a person is in billable project, managers will not like to approve long leaves as this will be a billing loss. In USA based product companies and small size service companies - usually leaves are approved and encouraged also.

This company called Sportz Interactive doesnāt allow people to avail their comp offs, and even stopped encashing them.

My friend saved up all her leaves for a trip to India for h1b staming and her manager is now not happy with number of days she is taking off and is asking her to go on unpaid leaves even though she has paid leaves still left. Fucking wild!

Leaves are rarely refused imo
Just "discouraged" through "gentle" nudges from company culture.

Our leaves gets auto approved
