Goodbye wfh

Companies have started posting bad things about wfh. Stuff like cultural integration is not achieved in this model. I call it bullshit. Asking employees work from the office is the easiest way to control attrition. COVID WFH saw record attrition , all thanks to remote work. Models are faster becoming business centric than employee centric , which is good , but competent employees must be given a chance to support their families by remote work.

Twitter is due to new ownership, and then some Elon followers and tightwads CEO’s followed suit. You can’t use that example, that’s one idiot.

Yup , twitter is one famous u-turn example so I added it in my post. I am well aware of the reason, however CEO's , especially tech CEOs notoriously follow the same trend when it comes to employees.

There are two sides to this, but companies will see employees quit and be able to replace them with local talent if there is attrition due to WFH.

I’ve seen more and more on-site jobs advertised on LinkedIn than I did maybe 4-5 months back.

Some companies still believe in work from office, and they might have their reasons for it. COVID seems to be looming in the news again though, so I don’t know how much that will be a factor for change again.

My post is based on U-Turn policies from corporates like tcs , twitter etc., During COVID they praised the model , perhaps to keep employees happy but now since the honeymoon period is finished for employees corporations have toned down the remote jobs. But yes you do have a point of available remote jobs in linked in, however I see there is a clause of being present at site location even if it's remote. Folks from smaller towns will always have to leave.

Right now employers have more leverage. They don’t need to compete on perks. We will see more and more companies cutting down on perks.

Although if a company does adapt hybrid or remote option, they’ll get really good quality talent.

Quality talent is needed in only some key leadership roles. Apart from these positions you just need loyal and efficient people that execute fast without much back and forth. Salaries have ballooned to 2x over last 2-3 yrs. Normalisation is happening

What is cultural Integration? Where 15-20 people in a team talk in there regional language amd one who left his/her city town state for their career constantly feels like an outsider because we are the one who left our hometown in different state and donot know there local language? Are we supposed to learn all the languages if we move from one state to another? Oh yes, I am not talking about Bangalore.

There are plenty of remote opportunities, look carefully, apply smartly and laugh at employers who force on-site work
