Everyday is the worst day

I’m working under a leader who is knowledgeable but extremely toxic. Over the past year, here’s what he has done to me and my team:

  1. Badmouths each team member separately to create distrust.
  2. Encourages us to take lunch breaks separately, claiming that having friends at work won’t help our growth.
  3. Pits us against each other for work credit while simultaneously accusing us of lacking coordination.
  4. Forces managers to do executive-level work due to resource shortages, then yells at them for not "just managing."
  5. Constantly asks individuals what others think of him.
  6. Shows favoritism toward those who blindly obey him.
  7. Takes full credit for the team's achievements without acknowledging anyone else.
  8. Secures promotions and salary hikes for himself while telling the team that management has no budget.
  9. Frequently contradicts himself—saying one thing today and something entirely different the next day.

Every day with him is the worst I’ve ever experienced. Still, I hope things will change someday, or I will find a way to move to a better workplace.

How do you guys handle people like this?

They can’t be handled. They never change. He’s too good in his position of power. His ROI for being this way is quite rewarding. Best way is to look for another job.
