Dumbing down

Would you rather act dumb to get less work or maybe get out of a toxic project OR try to finish it ASAP to get it done with (this doesn't work for me, end up getting 2x, 3x, 4x work cuz of "efficiency")

You should build a nation and work 140 hrs per week with 200% efficiency so that INFY CEO's kids can go and live luxurious lives in the UK.
While you suck your manager's dick to survive in this country (after 34% taxes) for one day, to get laid off because "efficiency" and you are a costly resource.

Meanwhile your parents die to see you even day living peacefully, your kids can't go to a good school because you can't afford, your wife is unhappy bcoz you can't give her either of money, time or satisfaction (bcoz of all stress from work) and you hope to die one day of heart attack.

And since you were an income tax payer, you won't get AYUSH medical benefits as well. Die OP Die.

Reward for work completion is almost always more work.

Do not give more than 100% (15% on Monday, 20% Tuesday, 30% Wednesday, 20% Thursday, 15% Friday)

This. If I do it faster then I get more work. Better do it slowly while complaining to keep my sanity and the higher ups off my ass.

As someone who runs a company, I've seen employees do this a few times.

I usually put them in PIP, and fire them if their attitude doesn't improve.

How would you recognise such an employee?

We are a small team. It's immediately obvious if someone is not pulling their weight

Counter take: When you “dumb down”, you get less work. You don’t have a lot to show on your resume and can not justify years of experience in your present employment and this puts you in a bad place with job hunt.

You’ll need to have tangible side projects or learning. I would rather you finish the work as soon as possible and submit at the last minute.

Finish your work ASAP and submit it later, close to deadline! Best of both worlds

Depends on the reward of the work + how important that work is to the senior management to the company (not your boss). If it’s of a lower importance, then slow down the work. If it’s important and gets you recognised and rewarded, then decide how much are you willing to give.

Do per your potential and pace of desired growth.

If you want to grow aggressively work as per your calibre and stretch enough that it does not impact your mental or physical health.

If you want to grow slowly, slack here and there as desired.
