Does anyone face work related anxiety?

Been in corporate for about 1.3 years, wfh, facing work related anxiety. Everyday feels like a silent war. Taking deep breaths in between breaks has become a habit.

My question is, does it get better or worse?

How to manage this?

Culture shock is normal. From the free safe world of college life, moving into corporate environment is a big change. Give some time, you will get used to it.

Your manager will probably remind you how "difficult" times are, and how the company has now moved to "perform" or "perish" culture. Its all bull shit. he/she is just parroting what was told to him/her.

Yes true! I have seen the bare minimum performing employees succeed in work and maintain wlb as well

Start going to offices even in hybrid models will make it a magic. You are facing it because of working alone at the desk and that is too monotonous work.

Hey bro ! Even i felt the same in the beginning. Start speaking to your team mates and tell them you are feeling like this. They will help you. No problem.

If I miss my daily morning meditation my day just goes significantly more stressful, angry and feels rushed

I have a different take on this.

There are 2 potential reasons for this and you'd have to be brutally honest with yourself for this:

  1. Are you incompetent for your present role? Do you need to upskill to crush expectations?
Easy proxy: doing regular stuff expected from you takes a lot of time

  2. Are you reporting to unreasonable people? Does your boss or other stakeholders make your life hell due to their unstructured work life?
Easy proxy: how much of your time goes in firefighting caused by their whimsical nature?

If it's 1, either upskill or leave. Life will continue to be tough.

If it's 2, change and see other workplaces. If this continues, probably expectation-reality mismatch. If it continues, you're a misfit for Indian work culture.

Both points are well and decent but everyone has the guts to understand these things ? as I can see, one of my friends comes under the 1st scenario but as he has a 6+ year exp no one wants to compose by saying will guide you if you have prob in any kind of work

Not speaking to people is the biggest issue.

@EminentHunchback I too felt it. In the initial days I used to feel like an imposter and it exacerbated the issue more. But given some time everything settles as you learn more and more about your project!

You should find what you love doing as fast as possible otherwise it never gets better. It gets slightly better when you are good at what a company wants. Otherwise it's always a stupid life when it comes to work

I was feeling same at my initial days. Ppl told me that most of us in same situation make it habit. Forget everything at non office hours.
