Do your parents disrespect you because you couldn't move to US?

I noticed this trend in couple of close friends family, their parents want the kids to go to US and if they couldn't get chance they mistreat them, demean them infront of others and they won't mingle well with their own kids family.

We know relatives do this to show off, but parents doing it is something new. Normally these parents would have built their house or having goverment pensions.

It is as if giving a sort of punishment for not meeting parent&s goals.

Anyone faced this?

How are you dealing with such situation?
