Am not a kannadiga, but born and raised in KA.. 20 Years back i would have said this is stupidity and we Middle and lower class people loose opportunities by not knowing additional language. But today i support this. Language barrier is the only thing that is stopping mass immigration from BIMARU states to south. But still we find Bangladeshis working in construction sector, hotel industry in south. I went to TN for my last vacation, i found people from UP/Bihar working in farms. During a temple festival, almost 90% of the stalls were put up by north Indians. From GST data its already clear that south is a major contributor in supporting the whole country. This cannot go on. Every state must focus on developing its own economy. They must retain their own people and attract talent from outside. BIMARU states have started coping the kerala model - export people and get the money. We are the only country that punishes performance. South was successful in controlling population, and south is being punished for it. North let its population explode and is rewarded with more funds.
Beyond a certain point, immigration is silent invasion. too much immigration is bad for both the sending states and the receiving states.
A small question; check L&T data 78% workers are from North for Metro construction not because they are cheap & they work in double shifts or they don’t form unions. If you find answers to this; you will understand some tasks can only be done by Bihari’s because they exist in that section.
How about someday go to Sobha or Prestige & check workers in construction are from which state?
Have you ever seen a south Indian security guard at building towers? Why Nepali’s & Bihari’s are there?
Hmm there is a lot you need to see yet. I still want you to fight for Kannada language but not as to pushback Hindi or any hate but to keep it preserve.
After-all Hindi can help you survive in entire North, East & West India but Kannada only upto from BLR to Ooty, from GoKarna to Hampi. :)
We are 1 country. Better we pick up BIMARU states faster. We want to get to a place where there is benefit of a large population not a burden of it.

See it’s very simple . Just wherever you go learn a lil bit of their language which will help you in communicating with them easily . Why north indian wants their hindi to be everywhere why not learn basic local language. That shows how arrogant you are . I see my hindi belt colleague's arrogance with the local language. Now you guys have pushed kannadigas to that extent that they are showing the same arrogance as you guys show . And politicians are milking out of it . Just a few words here and there, problem solved that’s it

Only people i have seen talking about local language are people who already know hindi and their kids know it too. Even if you are outside India hindi will be connecting language. Hindi isn’t the national language sure but its the closest to a connecting language across this country. Its not english
In trying to preserve Kannada, you may be strangling it.
Language can be kept alive and kicking with Art ( cinema, drama, music )
People in BLR are picking up Japanese because they love anime and manga not because its an economically rewarding language.
