Corporate Conspiracy Theories

A friend of mine had a promising interview with a company, but unfortunately was not chosen for the position.

From the past few days, one of the managers from her current company started acting suspiciously, showing an unusual level of interest and care towards my friend, and expressing a desire to have her on his team.

It's worth noting that my friend received a referral for the interview from a former employee of her current organization, who also happened to be a member of the interview panel. I suspect that news of my friend's interview somehow leaked to her current organization through the ex-employee, and that some kind of action was taken as a result.

Have any of you experienced something similar?

How is this a conspiracy? In my experience this is very common thing in corporate guys both ex and current

But how is this normal? Stopping someone's career growth, that is not acceptable right?

My manager in a 1:1 asked me why have you added "openToWork" badge on LinkedIN. He said the HR team told him so.

Something similar happened at my workplace. My boss (Director level) brought it up in a meeting that she had noticed that some team members had the Open To Work badge on LinkedIn. She even mentioned that she had got to know from an HR contact of her's that a particular member from our practice was attending the HR's org's interviews.

Same happened here. CTO asked folks in all hand who had OpenToWork listed on their profile 🙃
