Clarification on Release for Internal Project Transfer

I was recently assigned to a support project because HR informed me that if I didn't accept it, I would have to resign. Reluctantly, I took up the role. Now, I see an internal opening for a Python backend project, which aligns with my skills and career goals. If I get selected for the Python project, will I be eligible for a release from my current support project? If yes, what would be the process to follow?
