Can Office Friendships Last Beyond Work?

I was fortunate enough to cultivate great professional rapport with my coworkers at HeyCoach, but it made me wonder how many professional friendships remain intact once everyone transitions to another company? Oh how I feel sorry for them, I would like to hear more from you. Are work friendships long-lasting, or do people become friends at work only to stop being friends later?
