Successful men can indeed be very pompous, prideful, selfish, opportunistic, narcissistic, machiavellian and have very low empathy.

While not all successful men may have one or more of these traits, it is easy to find so many who possess them.

Yes and that it's not necessarily a net negative. Most men will keep it in check and not be too big of an asshole, otherwise people start avoiding you. No one likes a constant show off.
