What’s one advice you’d give to someone who’s starting the arranged marriage process?
I am in the process right now. Some advice below
Give it time and be patient. This process is not meant to get over quickly. Be consistent and put in effort.
Don't look for perfection, nobody is perfect including yourself. When we meet someone through dating we generally overlook their flaws more easily. But here people look for perfection out of fear. Because they don't know other qualities yet which offset the shortcomings.
(As a guy) don't go for looks, you'll be tempted to, but don't. It's an important factor but it should not be the thing that you base your decision on. Hope that makes sense.
Be honest with her/him when you meet. No point starting something with lies.
Lastly, Cheer up! this is not too bad of a process. I met some amazing people through this and I think I also grew as a person, since this is a lot more serious than dating, it forces you to consider life in the long term.
Well said! Just an add on: the girl might have a past. Don’t get muddled in her ex-ka stories. It’s a fair ask to check if there’s anything down the line that’d impact you both, but besides that, don’t dig into that much.
