Appraisals are shit

I have lost all hopes from appraisals. I think if you wanna gain hike in your package, just make a switch. What are your thoughts?

They may get better after like 4-5 years of stay. Otherwise no

Even people with 4-5 yrs in a company are crying

May and that will only happen when things are good for company or outside in general

True. I am in service based company, appraisal is less than inflation... Just switch

True

How much did you get in April hike?

MagicalQuokka

True that. Staying long-term often does not reap any financial rewards.

Switching is under rated, but the truth is, that's the the only ladder for a good hike

Why should you get a better pay this year than last year? Are you doing more shit? Are you more valuable to the company than last year?

There is something called adjusting for inflation. If salary is not increased as per inflation, it means your salary has degrown. This is for people who have worked as per or more than expectations.

I very recently received my appraisal letter. I have been promoted twice in a span of 3 months (because of open positions that couldn't be filled coupled with my skill set and will to learn). I did not get a hike then, the reason being the company policy is to give hike only during appraisals. My manager told me that I'll be getting a good hike and when I open my appraisal letter, lo and behold, 10%.... FML 🥲🥲🥲

Yes, unless the work you're doing is really really good. You are better off switching.

I agree

Appraisals are meaning less. The ones critical to projext get the highest hike.
There is a nonsensical rule that of having mandatory PIP or lower end ranking in the team. So your individual performance doesn't matter. Critical issues at that time and offfice politics will decide everyrhing

I've seen cases where people weren't even aware about why they were put on PIP at the first place

You are right, it's better to switch rather waiting for hike
