Apple interview experience

Appeared for anonline video interview with Apple recently. The 2 interviewers didn't even bother to turn on their cameras throughout the whole discussion. Had much respect for the firm but didn't expectrd this. Why do some people do this ? Do they think they are working in a company where many aspire to be and that gives them the freedom to behave like this ?

Why are you so bothered with them turning on the camera ? You want to crack the interview or see their faces ?
They arent lovely to see for sure. So chill! And focus on what you are trying to do - clearing the interview

A lot of times cracking interviews depends on clues in your interviewer's facial expressions or non verbal communication. When in a person F2F interview it becomes easy to gauge. In a remote setting having the video on actually helps if they are liking ur answer or not. If the firm is so adamant about coming to office 3 days / week then what is the issue with turning on the camera during interviews.

you will see a lot of interviewers who might look all positive on face but reject you once the round is over.
So it doesnt not depend on what kind of expression interviewer is giving. Only trying to help you. You will find lots of interviewers not turning on camera but demanding you to show your face because of company policies. Example- walmart guys take screenshots of interviewees just to make sure same person is appearing in all the rounds.

Sounds very unlike them because typically there’s too many processes at big tech firms - this is a red flag

Which team was this?

The process is still going on , if I get rejected I will name and shame for sure. Hold on till then.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it. Some people are uncomfortable with sharing video on call. And it is important to ask the candidate for video because chances of cheating are reduced. I usually do the same but when coding etc start and screenshare is on I ask the candidate to turn the video off to save bandwidth

I understand if one of the interviewers would have been off video , but it was both of them not on video that irritated me.
