Anybody here who has bought health insurance from Ditto and successfully claimed a settlement? Please share your experience!

TLDR: going to buy policy from Ditto, want to hear about some personal experiences from folks who have already bought and settled a claim!

So, I'm looking to purchase a health insurance policy for my family and have repeatedly come across Ditto. They have been very nice to talk to and provided a lot of info over multiple discussions. However, everybody is nice when they're trying to sell you things...

Also, I find their business model a bit weird in context to their claim of providing "unbiased advice and service". I was told from Ditto that they don't charge any commission from the consumer, but are instead paid by the companies themselves. If that's the case, won't they be likely to push for the company that's paying them the highest commission?

Because of this, I'm sceptical about their service when it comes to claim settlement procedure. If the Insurance agency causes unnecessary blockades, does Ditto help in resolving the issue ?

In the past, our health insurance was bought from an known family friend who was a certified agent, hence by default he had some sense of responsibility towards us. But Ditto is just a company... The relationship manager they'll assign will be a stranger obviously.

So, what I really want to know is how much do they hold up on their end of the bargain, when it comes to claim settlement!

I’d suggest go with the company directly. I too consulted with Ditto and my experience was also the same. Very polite and thorough dealing, but including any third party for settlement always sounds tedious. So I got my policy from HDFC directly.

That's a never good idea. God forbid if you get stuck during a claim settlement... None of customer support can help you out. Speaking from personal experience

Although you are correct here, including a 3rd party is not a good idea but, with such large brokers like Ditto or PB who give these companies a lot of business, they are often able to pull some strings for your claim which you otherwise won't be able to. Speaking from my personal experience, they do try to help you in claim settlement.

I had bought from ditto, and also went through some hospitalization, my insurance provider was asking to many things to get initial approval for cashless. Suddenly from nowhere I recived call from ditto , they asked did we raise claim request, then I explained my prob and within few hours cashless claim was approved

Had a great discussion experience with a ditto advisor. Didn't buy from them since the same policy was cheaper on PolicyBazaar. But, yeah ditto advisors definitely understand your situation carefully and give tailored advice whereas PolicyBazaar advisors feel like they are compelling to buy ASAP without listening much.

The game of purchasing health insurance online, begins once you try and file a claim.

To deal with PB, you need to buy a seperate sim when you talk to them first time.

In case you don't go ahead, they are worse spammers than Bajaj Finance.

Even after you buy, they continue to spam with upsales for CC and Loan etc.

The model of Ditto is the same as it is for any broker/agent. The insurance companies pay them commission on every policy they sell. What is different about Ditto is they will never push you to buy the policies that they recommend. They will present all the facts about why they think its a good policy. Other than that, you can do your own research and take those plans to Ditto. They will also help u understand the pros and cons of that policy. In terms of claims, yes they will help you to get the claim processed as long as it is genuine and is covered under the policy. For that you need to definitely do homework and raise questions to the Ditto Advisor before buying the policy

So, They aren't any different than any regular insurance agent then! You just have to "trust them", to help you out in times of need...
