Amazon, what is this behaviour?

What the hell would you know about me by forcing two completely unrelatable questions and forcing to choose any one and that too both the answers like more / most like me when I'm completely unlike that.

Help me understand how does this help to evaluate a candidate?

Nowadays most of the companies are conducting some assessment tests before proceeding with the recruitment process and they take it forward only if the candidate has scored good otherwise they don't proceed. I am not from a recruitment background and therefore I also feel this process is totally useless because I feel these questions are nowhere connected with the position you have applied for. Within a limited timeframe how one can answer all lengthy and confusing questions and how can the recruiters decide whether the candidate is fit for the position or not based on the score? I had attended one interview with EY long back and they asked me to go for SJT (Situational Judgement Test ) and LR (Logical Reasoning) there were around 26+10 questions altogether and they asked me to share my screen and solve the questions in 1hr while be in the video call 😥🫣. They didn't respond for more than 15 days and when I followed the recruiter said you haven't scored well so we are not taking your profile ahead. It was a very bad experience for me with EY.

To align with Amazon’s Leadership Principles, the better choice here is:

“I sometimes focus too much on past mistakes” → Choose “More like me” or “Most like me”

Why:

Amazon prizes Customer Obsession, Ownership, and Deliver Results, all of which imply your career and performance are top priorities.

Saying career is not your top priority conflicts with those principles.

Acknowledging you reflect (even sometimes too much) on mistakes can align with Learn and Be Curious and Are Right, A Lot, if interpreted as self-improvement.

So choose the past mistakes side to better align with Amazon.
