Dont agree. Wars are less frequent, lawlessness is reducing on average many pockets, standard of living has improved on average.

We are living more comfortable than Victorians who lived comfortably than people before them.

Look at the trendlines, they will give you optimism. The headlines are depressing because they have to be attention grabbing

Agreed, we are doing much better than our ancestors on many fronts. But that doesn't guarantee lack of new problems in the future.

Standard of living has improved but at the cost of climate change for example. There are always trade offs. No absolute right or wrong, better or worse. Just new, and possibly more complex problems to deal with.
