Getting an iPhone was worth it for me, after using android for close to a decade.
My iPhone lasted close to 5 years, way longer than any of my OnePlus phones. 5T and 6
Salary is subjective in this case. Buy a phone which lasts. Having to spend 15-20K every 1.5 years and spending 60-75K once in 5-6 years - which one makes more sense?
I had a budget android phone earlier. Got damaged pretty quickly. Brought another one - same result. Took a leap of faith and brought a phone from Apple. Not a fancy pro or plus model, but a base model.
It's solid up until now, and I hope that it will remain the same for next few years to come. I would have gone with an android flagship itself if I was not using a laptop from Apple.

Imo no smartphone over 20-25k is worth the spend
Pay premium for a better quality product , User experience will be better and it will last for quite some time.
No I’m not saying everything pricy will be the best but people are smart enough to understand which ones are.
Never look at certain products as investments. It’s just for our own happiness and comfort. I’d rather have the best device in the market even if it’s a bit pricy over having to change devices every few months or years and endure a horrible experience.
I come from the school of thought the more money you spend the more you get* and if you’re happy you are more productive. It kinda motivates me when I buy something nice for myself.

The way I think about it is. I spend around 5-6 hours on it a say. thats 25% of my day. So I want that experience to be good so I don’t compromise. Similarly a mattress is 8 hours of your day so spend good on a mattress.
buy a good phone which will last even if it costs more money in the short term, a name brand like apple for example, it’s a reliable phone with good resale value and hardly has defects to be concerned about (like random motherboard failures etc), quality control is top notch, it should last a fair bit longer & cost cheaper than other cheaper brands in the longer run
