10 Years In, Yet Feeling Stuck & Stressed 😫

It's been a decade of working, building experience, and delivering results. While I've been doing well in my role, I can't shake off this growing fear of job insecurity. The job market feels tough, and despite my experience, interview calls are rare.

Not sure if it's just a phase or if I need to rethink my approach. Has anyone else felt this way? How do you deal with the fear of uncertainty in your career?

I want to answer this question from another face.

If you're feeling uncertain or fearful about the job market, let's take a step back and reassess the situation thoughtfully.

  • Are you truly dissatisfied with your current job, or are external pressures influencing your feelings? Reflect on your job satisfaction.

  • Consider how often you’ve switched jobs in the past—has it been frequent, and if so, why? It's a good idea to have clear and honest answers prepared for this kind of self-reflection.

Many individuals attend interviews regularly, not necessarily to change jobs, but in the hope of securing a better offer. This practice can be beneficial for gaining experience, but it often leads to stress when one attends without proper preparation. This lack of readiness can create a fear of interviews, spiraling into a cycle of negative thoughts.

Here’s a potential solution:

  • Shift your focus away from obsessing over salary packages, job market fluctuations, and interview outcomes.

  • Participate in interviews only when you have a genuine intent to switch jobs. Being selective helps reduce unnecessary stress.

  • Establish personal benchmarks for job satisfaction—what truly fulfills you in a role or career? A clear perspective can be a guiding force.

  • Channel your energy into other productive activities or hobbies, diversifying your focus.

If concerns about the job market persist, consider an alternative path—such as transitioning into entrepreneurship. Building a business can be transformative, offering freedom and potential rewards beyond a traditional job.

Wishing you confidence and clarity in whatever path you choose!

Trust me you are not the only one feeling stuck and stressed, majority of us are thinking likewise but reality is getting new job will not solve the problem because actual issue is different than what we are thinking.

We need to shift our mindset. Most of us study to get a job but we don't check if we will really going to enjoy it or not. But hard reality is IT market is shrinking and people may face hard time to sail through it hence my suggestion is find your real calling. India is full of opportunities now. I hope and wish you will find yours as well.
