I always believed remote folks are doing better, live in tier 2/3 town, get a high paying usd job

Living in tier 2/3 can optimize saving but it’s more about one’s lifestyle. USD earning folks are mostly freelancers or just rare. More rare than ppl in fang. My point was that most high paying companies have it at least hybrid mode. Comparing on just the face value of monthly earnings, hybrid+ wins.
