🕵♀️Web3 and COVID killed Hackathon Culture
Remember when I was in college, we had a really great hackathon culture, being conducted offline in Bangalore. AngelHack, Amazon Sambhav, FutureSkills by Nasscom, Ideathon. After COVID hit and Web3 became a buzzword, all I see is web3 hackathons where folks just copy a pre-written smart contract from GitHub and it doesn't even work. Most of these are online where you don't even get to see what others have built. I have seen someone winning 3rd prize by showing Figma prototype 🤦♀️. Same goes for meetups as well. Really miss the days where we had no clue on Friday what we're going to build and coming home with $500 in prize on Monday mornings. If you're aware of any good hackathons happening this year, please let me know.
