Rant against gatekeepers!
I had a feature deployment planned for this Tuesday. My manager was completely fine with it but asked me to get the PR approved by our senior engineer What my rant is about the a typical egoistic mentality of rejecting perfectly good work! He starts of by saying “itna simple code kyun likha hai baccho jaisa?!” (why is this code written so simply like a child?) and then continues to say how he isn’t against readable code but my logic is too basic. He then goes on to say I should rewrite the whole module. Hell no I won’t ! Fuck you man! And fuck your gatekeeping! Writing maintainable code is crucial to anyone’s sanity and team productivity. Also, rewriting everything would not only be inconvenient but also risky, defeating the purpose of a quick fix. I feel so angry right now. Don’t know how I should approach this because I really don’t want to rewrite my logic on this task.
Seeidinc: The Toxic Symphony of Politics, Ego and Denial
Imagine a company where the only soundtrack is the toxic symphony of politics, ego and denial. You're not in a high school cafeteria. Here , manager has a first-time experience and chooses to weaponize it against you. This, my dear reader, is my story. A story steeped in humiliation, but also one laced with resilience. I've always been known for my ability to bring people together, nurture creativity and drive progress. However, the toxic environment I encountered was getting toxic day by day. It was a place where basic feedback was met with resistance and where the QA has biggest ego. I raised the issue, with the manager, but instead of addressing the problem, they launched into a political circus, blaming me for the chaos. My voice, my logic, my experience - all dismissed with a nonchalant "You're wrong, again." never faced this with my ex-colleagues before this from all previous companies though they were from tier-1 colleges and hungry to learn, grow and very humble when it comes to giving and taking feedbacks. It's a humbling reminder that genuine leadership and the ability to accept feedback are the foundational pillars of any successful organization. My journey through this toxic symphony has taught me valuable lessons about the importance of creating a positive and inclusive work environment. It has also fueled my resolve to keep pushing boundaries, even when faced with blatant indifference and deceit.
ICICI BANK job posting location!
Hi, I was offered a Product Manager role at ICICI BANK in Mumbai. However the role is of nothing like what a product manager actually does or is expected to ideally deliver. What I feel is, this is just a backend banking role and so does everyone else on the team I have met with. For the context I am not from Mumbai. Will it be possible to for a location change now? It's been only over a month since I have joined ICICI. My logic is, at least I'll have a peace of mind and healthy lifestyle in my hometown, Pune. I am okay, with whatever department or team I am assigned with (since it doesn't really matter because of role here anyway). If there is really a way, that I can make the shift, can someone please help me, how do I do that? Will talking to RM, RH help? Also, what are all the departments there in Pune, I've heard Tx Banking is there. It is said that Product Managers don't operate from Pune. If not a PM role, what role would they most likely assign me with? And if it's a relationship Manager's role (fully-sales role), should I accept that? Sorry for the ranting! But please help me!!!
