[Thread] What are some examples of human craftsmanship that you appreciate?

I was at a fairly high end tailor today, and the sheer beauty in the art of crafting a perfect fitting suit is unparalleled. When I see a true master make the right knots and use chalk to measure on fabric, the beauty of peak human skill emanates from each motion. It made me realise that we might be doing something extremely interesting in our day jobs but it is extremely hard to showcase true human mastery in it. Suddenly, it dawns on you that although white collar jobs are paid well commensurate to the value they create, we seldom obtain skills that exhibit a similar level of craftsmanship. There is indeed true beauty in the creation of the perfect suit. Somehow, it is a reminder for us all that builders are the ultimate value creators. Enablers ensure value enrichment but you can’t enrich something until the genesis of value. And it is the death of human ingenuity if we become glorified file movers. Why are some examples of human craft that makes you awestruck? What are your thoughts on this post? Would love to hear you all out.

Grapevine is a free app. How do they run their startup?

Pardon me for being so naive here. I want to understand this new type of startup trend. 1. What’s the source of motivation for their employees to stick to their jobs? 2. How do apps like these think of monetizing? There is no ad, no paid feature per say. 3. Grapevine has probably built some kind of a platform. But how is this different from platforms like twitter, facebook or any other social media platform? 4. How much money do you think has been invested into building apps like this? 5. The DAU of this app based on my wild guess must be around 5K. I may be completely wrong here. 6. What according to you is the current valuation of grapevine? 7. Saumil Tripathi, the founder of grapevine is ex-google employee as per his LinkedIn profile. There is no mention of any other any other startup he owns. 8. Grapevine has a team of 10 employees (as per Saumil’s post a few weeks back) How do these guys make money? I’m awestruck by the guys working in grapevine. Building an app of this quality with no monetization in sight! Pounce on this thread with your thoughts guys!

She left me and I can't go on anymore.

p1 tldr; I secretly loved my best friend for 15 years. Now she's leaving for the USA for her MS degree, and I'm torn between finally confessing your feelings or letting her go without ever telling her how you feel. Part 1 here: https://share.gvine.app/n92YZYuNRd4qb7tw8 Part 2: I confessed to her and she resonated with my emotions. She was completely awestruck with me. We made out that night and it was heaven. But long distance was hard. I was preparing for GMAT to get to a US M7 school but she wasn't ready to wait that long. I wanted for us to last but she decided that she didn't want this anymore. I got to know later that she had been going out with another guy from her classes. I feel betrayed and I can't go on anymore. Should I still prepare for GMAT or make my own life in India?
